Day 26 - Inspired by a Pattern

The nail community is filled with these adorable candy cane manicures that I have been dying to try. I decided this challenge would be the perfect time to attempt it. It was surprisingly quick, easy, and adorable! I did get a little too hasty with the top coat on one of my fingers, causing the white stripes to smudge. Alright, here are the pictures!!

Pretty cute right? All you need to do is to put on a couple of coats of red (China Glaze Ruby Pumps) and let it dry. Once dry, use a white striper brush to put on diagonal stripes. After the stripes are dry, add a coat of your favorite top coat.

Day 25 - Inspired by Fashion

I love shoes and I obviously love nail polish but that about sums up my love and involvement with the world of fashion. When I saw that this was going to be a challenge I chuckled to myself. I know there isn't anything in my closet that is inspiring. Good thing I have Santa to look to for fashion inspiration. Being December is really saving me during these last few challenges. I'm working that angle all the way baby!
Now, I do not wish to ever be able to fit in Santa's suit. I do, however, think his belt is awesome and so my inspiration for today's challenge was born.

OPI Envy - base coat
China Glaze Salsa (two coats) I really love this red!
Seche Vite - One Coat
Tape for the belts and NOPI Razzle Dazzle for the black belts
China Glaze Passion and a small detail brush for the buckles
Seche Vite - One more coat

I almost forgot! I used China Glaze Ruby Pumps on my ring finger for a little sparkle.

My camera doesn't pick up glitter very well. I'm going to search for my manual or try to find it online so I can improve my picture taking skills.

I'm also going to do a better job at remembering to keep the door to my "polish room" open so my cat can keep me company. Believe me, he lets me know when I forget:

He doesn't know how to push the door all the way open. Silly kitty.

I hope you like today's look! I thought it was a lot of fun. Thanks for reading and see you next time!

Day 24 - Inspired by a Book

Ok, so this is known as a song but here is my proof that it's a book too!

When I taught (that sounds really weird) which wasn't long ago, I would read/sing this with my class. It brings me a lot of wonderful memories of teaching 1st and 2nd grade. The holidays are so much more enjoyable when there are children around for me.

I saw this tutorial and wanted to try it which is why I made this stretch with the book/song!

I like to do my nail art upside down so that I can see them. They don't seem upside down to me but I always see them the other way online. =)

OPI Envy - base coat
Zoya Snow White
NOPI - Razzle Dazzle (black)
OPI - In my Back Pocket (orange)
Seche Vite - top coat
Dotting tool and small paint brush for the nose

Don't forget to enter my giveaway, it closes this Friday. I would love to do another giveaway when I hit 50 subscribers on this blog so please subscribe if you like this blog! =) I'm also going to do a giveaway when I hit 100 "likes" on Facebook!

Day 23 - Inspired by a Movie

One of my favorite Christmas movies to watch when I was a little girl was White Christmas. I still love it and need to watch it once a Christmas season. For this challenge I wanted to simply capture the look of snow on my nails accented with snowflakes. I had a clear vision of what I wanted in my head but I just couldn't get it to come out right. It was fun to try but I'm putting this in the Nail Fail category. I have something fun planned for the next challenge (inspired by a book) and hope that it comes out the way I see it in my head. =)

OPI Envy (base coat)
Zoya Snow White
China Glaze Fairy Dust
Zoya Trixie (silver snowflakes)
China Glaze For Audrey (blue snowflakes)
Bundle Monster Plate #14

Another Giveaway Alert (Not Mine Yet)

This is for another blog, I need to take pictures of what my giveaway is before I reveal it! Until then, check this out:

Day 21 - Inspired by a Color

I didn't really understand what to do with this one. I think it's pretty broad so hopefully I did this the right way (if there is a right way). Today I spent some time with my sister, niece, and nephew. My niece loves to have her nails painted which I think is adorable (she's four). Her go to polish is the brightest pink in the known universe. I love how much she loves that color. Knowing that I'd be painting her nails pink today I thought I'd do a pink on my nails to match. Neon pink isn't my thing so I went with a different shade. When she saw my nails she decided that she wanted what I had on my nails instead of her usual polish. Unfortunately, I only brought hers. Next time, G!

I did some layering this time, I really like how it turned out. It is a lot brighter in person, my camera toned it down which is frustrating. I used two coats of OPI Excuse Moi! and one coat of OPI Be a Dahlia Won't You on top. I love how the glitter from Excuse Moi! shows through Be a Dahlia giving it tons of texture. I'd definitely do this again. G will just get Be a Dahlia. She tends to pick off her glitter and deposits throughout the house. =) Here are the pictures!

Thanks for reading!

p.s. Stay tuned for a special Christmas giveaway!

Day 20 - Water Marbled

Oh man, this was really hard. I watched a lot of Youtube videos and thought I had a handle on how to do this. I heard that this works best with cremes which I have very little of. I have a ton of glitter and shimmers though! I don't have a lot of cremes that match each other but I did have a dark purple, grey, and navy blue. These did not want to show up on the picture, they are just too dark and blend in the photo I think. You can really see it on my pinky so just look at that finger. =) This is my second attempt. My first attempt was worse than this one and I didn't want to take pictures of it. ;p The next time (if there is a next time) I do this I will use brighter colors so it shows up better. Alright, here is the picture!

Remember, just look at the pinky. =)

Thanks for reading! See you next time!

Giveaway Alert

Fashion Polish is having a series of amazing giveaways. Check it out and register for a chance to win!

Sorry about my lack of posting lately. I'm hoping to feel well enough to attempt the water marble mani soon. I did do it once but it was really bad. lol I thought about posting it to get it over with but it was just too bad. I scrubbed it off and will start over soon. I did some research and think I know what the problem was. Hopefully I'll have better luck with it! Thanks for your patience and thanks for reading!

Day 19 - Galaxy Nails

Galaxy Nails is a manicure that looks intimidating but it's surprisingly simple. I enjoyed making this mani for today's challenge. I know it's not the best galaxy nail art out there but it's my first try and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. I have some ideas on how to make it better next time which is always what I want to get out of these challenges. Learn and improve right? I watched a tutorial in preparation for this challenge because I wasn't sure how to go about this design. I watched this tutorial from Cute Polish:  I basically followed her instructions step by step. Mine isn't as awesome as hers but I like it!

Here are the pics, supply list will be underneath the last picture.

OPI Envy - Base Coat
NOPI - Razzle Dazzle for black base color (2 coats)
Zoya - Snow White
China Glaze - Happy Go Lucky
China Glaze - Peachy Keen
Cult Nails - Time Traveler
Small dotting tool for stars (used with Zoya Snow White)
China Glaze - Fairy Dust for top coat (bottle shown in pictures)
Makeup Sponge (wedges) for sponging

Day 18 - Half Moon Mani

This is another challenge that I have been looking forward to do. This is the first time trying this manicure. I love how many options there are for this. The day I planned on making my half moon manicure, my package from Cult Nails arrived with Clairvoyant/Unicorn Puke and three other polishes! One of the other polishes that came in the package is called Time Traveler. It is a beautiful navy blue creme. I immediately thought about how beautiful it would be to layer Clairvoyant on top of Time Traveler. If you aren't familiar with Unicorn Puke/Clairvoyant it is a flaky polish in a blue base. It looks best layered on top of a dark colors in my opinion. It's a must have for anyone who loves polish but it can be hard to get.

How I did it: I put on two coats of Time Traveler over my whole nail and then a fast drying top coat (Seche Vite). When this was completely dry, I put on the paper hole reinforcement stickers on each nail. Then I put on a thick coat of Clairvoyant/Unicorn Puke above the sticker. I took the sticker off immediately. After I finished this step, I put another coat of Seche Vite.

On one hand I put small black rhinestones along the line of the half moon. I think it distracts the eye away from the star which is Clairvoyant/U.P. So the hand without the rhinestones is my favorite.

What do you think? Do you like half moon manis? Do you like this look with or without the black rhinestones? Let me know by leaving a comment!

Day 17 - Glitter

I have been waiting for this one, glitter is my absolute favorite. This isn't the traditional glitter you'd expect in nail polish. It's a holo of course! Holos are my ultimate favorite but I only have a few so far. This one is one of my favorites but the bottle is so darn small I have only worn it twice. Glitter Gal Lizard Belly is a gorgeous deep green (maybe hunter green?) with holographic particles. It's hard to stop looking at your nails when this is on. Driving would probably be dangerous with Lizard Belly on your nails. Here are the pictures!

Isn't is stunning? The sun is out this morning so I was able to take these pictures with natural light. I love this polish as you can tell :). Application was smooth. You can get away with one coat but I put on two. I do not have a top coat on, it seems to interrupt the effect. On the downside it shortens wear time so I'd probably put on a top coat.

I'm going to get ready for the next challenge now. I've had this on for a couple of days but I still may cry a little when I take this off.

Thanks for reading!

p.s. You can purchase Glitter Gal Lizard Belly and other fabulous polishes from

Wow, I logged on to find such a wonderful surprise! 9 more followers!! Thank you for following my little blog, I'm so excited about this new adventure. Thank you to The Trace Face Philes for featuring me. I'm seriously not worthy. lol I've been admiring her beautiful work for a while now so I'm just thrilled.

I'm working on editing my pictures for my next challenge which is glitter. I used one of my beloved holos and have been hoping for the sun to come out so I can get a picture with natural light. I did take pictures tonight with the flash on my camera just in case it's still overcast tomorrow.

Here is a preview:

Can anyone guess what it is? ;)

Day 16 - Tribal Print

Ok, I admit this is a Nail Fail. I also admit that I'm looking forward to tomorrow's challenge sooo much that I don't care. I hope that doesn't make me a terrible blogger. <:/ I used my black striper to draw the black lines and my dotting tool to make the dots. I'm not very good with either tool yet so this is pretty crooked.

Here is my sad little picture:
OPI Envy for base coat
OPI - Skull & Glossbones
Black Striper
Seche Vete Top Coat

Ahhh, glitter is next. Thanks for reading!

Day 15 - Delicate Print & Spontaneous Burt's Bees Review

I'm not sure if the pattern I stamped is considered delicate or not. I like it so I'm going to use it. =) I wanted to stamp with a gold polish for this mani but didn't have one yet. I was worried that it would be hard to find a gold that is good for stamping. I purchased the thickest one I could find (China Glaze - Passion) and it worked out really well!

I filed my nails down a little. I want to keep growing them out and eventually file them into a square tip. I've only rounded my nails so it should be interesting if I can get the look I'm going for. I will be watching Youtube videos to learn how to file your nails into different shapes before I attempt anything. =)

Here are the pictures for today's challenge:

OPI Envy Base Coat
OPI DS Extravagance
China Glaze Passion (stamping)
Bundle Monster Plate 201 (Image found on Google Images)
Seche Vite Top Coat

Do my cuticles look happier to you today? They feel happier. After this manicure I put on Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream (picture from Google Images). I've only used it once and I don't know if it's supposed to go on after you've finished a manicure. It may work best if you put it on before painting your nails. Does anyone know? I put it on before I took my pictures because I was sooooo dry. I've noticed a lot of nail bloggers use this so I picked it up at Ulta today. Just in one use I've noticed a difference. It isn't overly greasy. My skin absorbed it well, and my fingers felt really soft. It has a nice soft scent that doesn't overpower which is a huge plus for me. It's really small, it fits in the palm of my hand and holds .6 oz. of product. I think it will last a long time because a little went a long way. I'm going to keep putting it on throughout the day because my skin gets really dry in the winter and the acetone doesn't help. ;) I'll let you know how it works out for me over time.

Has anyone used this product? Do you love it? I wasn't planning on going on and on about this but I really like it. This is probably going to be something I will always need around to keep my cuticles happy. =)

I hope you liked today's manicure and unplanned review. Thanks for reading!

Day 14 - Flowers

I've been slacking on this challenge! It's been a tough week so I imagine I'll be slacking for a little while longer. I'll try to get a post up at least every other day. When I start feeling better I'll shoot for every day again.

I really like how this mani turned out. I'm really not happy about taking it off but I'm going to do it! I've also been experimenting with the settings on my camera and I really like how my pictures turned out this time. They are looking a little closer to what I want! Now to figure out what I did so I can do it again.

What do you think? I hand painted the roses myself...ok ok it's a stamp. As you can see I used Zoya again. This is Zoya Breezi, I love this polish! I only needed two coats for full coverage. It applied very smoothly and dried pretty fast. What more can a girl ask for besides holo? ;) I used Konad Special Polish in white for the stamp which was from Bundle Monster plate #14. Seche Vite for the top and OPI Envy for the base.

Now for a delicate print...what does that mean....

Thanks for reading!

Fashion Polish Giveaway Info

Another blog I love is Fashion Polish. She's doing an amazing giveaway right now! Check out her giveaway and her blog. =)

Day 13 - Animal Print

I had a lot of fun doing this design. It reminds me of the Lisa Frank school supplies I used to love when I was a little girl. Remember Lisa Frank? I had a bunch of her erasers, pencils, folders, etc. back in the day.

I just googled Lisa Frank and had a walk through memory lane. Ahh, the 80s.

Please excuse my dry nails. I put lotion on before I took the pictures but it didn't help too much. This challenge is killing my cuticles and skin! I will be soaking my nails in cuticle oil today, sheesh!

Ok, I used a discontinued color for my base. I know, naughty. It's China Glaze - Tickle My Triangle and then I used Zoya - Trixie for the animal print stamp which is Bundle Monster plate #221. I used Seche Vite for my top coat and OPI Envy for by base coat as usual!

How do you like my black background? Is it better or worse? I'm trying to improve my pictures and will take any tips you can throw my way. I'm really bummed that today was overcast because Tickle My Triangle is a holo. =*(
