Day 2 - Orange Nails

I was dreading this day because I never wear orange polish! I only have one in my stash (OPI's In my Back Pocket) that I bought for Halloween designs. Then I realized, Halloween! Today is Halloween! How perfect is that? I did use a Konad Stamp with special black polish (that's what it's called) to make it a little more festive. Hope you like it!!

Happy Halloween!!!

Challenge Day 1 - Red Nails

Yay, I did the first challenge day on time. =) This wasn't much of a challenge for me. Red is my favorite color. My nail polish collection reflects my love of red. I had to make the conscious decision to stop buying red polish when I realized the lack of variety I had. It only helped a little...I just buy more polish. ;)
For today's challenge, I was torn between two reds that I haven't tried yet so I put them together.

No flash

The solid shade of red is Zoya's Colbie. It may be my favorite red along with OPI's I'm Not Really a Waitress. Colbie is absolutely stunning. It's a deep red that looks slightly black around the edges. There's a faint shimmer or pearl effect that is only noticed outdoors. The sparkle you see on top of Colbie in my picture with the flash is not apart of the polish. It was accidentally transferred from the glitter nails when I put on my top coat. Woops! I liked it so I let it be.  ;p

I used OPI's Gettin Miss Piggy with It on my ring finger and thumb. It's my favorite of the glitter polishes from The Muppets collection so far. I haven't tried them all yet but the fact that it's red makes it an easy win in my book. It doesn't have as much silver glitter as the other glitters which I like....although it could just be my bottle. I'm not really into the silver glitter in this collection. What do you think about it? I did layer this on top of Colbie. I feel that the Muppet glitters are to sparse and take too many layers to make opaque. I prefer to put a matching color underneath as a base color.

I used Seche Vite for my top coat, I prefer it when using glitter. It took two coats on top of my glittery nails to smooth them out.

Tomorrow is orange which is not my favorite. In fact, I only have one shade. Can I use my Halloween nails and cheat? Ok ok, I'll play fair. ;)

Thanks for reading! Hopefully I'll have Day 2 posted tomorrow!

31 Day Nail Challenge

Tomorrow I'm going to start this challenge. I'm really excited and very nervous at the same time. There are techniques/looks like water marbling, galaxy and tribal nails that I've never attempted before. I'm just starting to learn about nail art so I worry that some of the days might not be pretty. The point is to challenge myself and learn so I'm putting it all up baby! We can cringe and celebrate together with my successes and failures. lol Click the picture below to enlarge.

I don't know who created this challenge. I got this challenge from who is already on day 20. She is amazing, you must check out her blog if you haven't already. She and two of her friends are doing the challenge together and it has truly been inspiring. She was gracious enough to tell me to go for it. So here we go!!!! First day red. I can do red. ;)

See ya tomorrow!!
p.s. I'd love to have you do this challenge with me. If you're interested let me know. We can link up in our posts.

Oh! One last note....I have to say that I will be taking the challenge slowly. If I'm having a bad pain day, I will be in my bed laying on an ice pack. I do often have days where I'm in bed all day. I'm going to try my best to do this every day but if a day gets skipped let me apologize in advance.

Ok, now, really, see ya tomorrow!! =)

Crazy & Funky Halloween Nails

I haven't decided if I like this yet. It's definitely just for Halloween for me! What do you think?

I used OPI In my Back Pocket for the base color. I believe it's from the Brights Collection. The polka dots were stamped on with Konad Plate #M79  with Konad's Black Special Polish. I love that it's called special. lol On my ring finger you may notice something strange going on, I put black rhinestones on top of the dots to give a little extra dimension. It's kinda fun, I'm just not used to anything this bold. =)

Spider Webs with a Twist

I finally moved everything over to the new blog. Yay! As you can see, I'm still in a Halloweeny mood. =)

Here's my latest manicure:

I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out. I was going to do spiders but decided against it at the last minute. I just couldn't bring myself to put spiders on my nails. Spiders absolutely freak me out! I know I know, it's just nail art. I had to put something in the webs so I put in rhinestones. Makes sense right? No? I've never used rhinestones before so I wasn't sure how I'd like it. I sense a new obsession. Good thing there are a ton of rhinestones in the wheel I ordered!

For the base color I used China Glaze - Concrete Catwalk. I love love love this color. It's a dark grey creme polish with a blue tone which is what I love about it. It applied very smoothly and was completely opaque in two coats. You could probably get away with one thick coat.

The spider image came from Bundle Monster plate #13 which was stamped with Zoya's Snow White. The lines in the image are very delicate. I think the Konad Special Polish was too thick for this image, I had a hard time transferring it. Has anyone used this image with that polish? I'm curious if that's what the problem was.

The rhinestones came from this wheel:

I used Seche Vite for my top coat this time.

Last but not least, my inspiration for this design:

Near Dark & Pumpkin Spice

Today I just wanted to do something simple with my nails. I wanted to do something Halloween themed but without the work! =) Please be patient as I figure out how to use my camera and take better pictures. Thankfully my sister is a photographer so she can give me tips!

I used two polishes for this look which are China Glaze - Near Dark and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Pumpkin Spice. Pumpkin Spice is shear but layers well so that you don't have any patchy spots on your nail. I didn't want to deal with getting 3 layers of glitter off which is why I used Near Dark as my base color. Near Dark is an almost black green. It's hard to tell that it isn't black unless you are in direct sunlight. Pumpkin Spice as you can see has orange glitter that sits in a really dark and murky greenish brown base. It looks great by itself or on top of dark colors like I used.

I picked up CG's Near Dark at Ulta and SH's Pumpkin Spice at Walgreens.

Hope you enjoyed!

Haunted Village

Hi Everyone! I tried sponging today for the first time. It was a lot of fun but extremely messy. I also thought it would be fun to throw in a white haunted house but I think it looks unfinished. I got this idea from a lot of nail tutorials and pictures that are floating around right now. I think the one that inspired me the most was from here:  I can't believe she free handed her nails, they are amazing. I do not freehand. I used nail stamping plates to get my images. =)

This is what I used:

China Glaze - Urban-Night (Metro Collection) This was my base color and you can't see it. I used it to make my other colors more opaque.

China Glaze - Grape Juice (Summer Days Collection) I sponged on this color first. I'm also holding the bottle in the pictures. I consider this a must have.

China Glaze - Recycle (ECollection) I used this to sponge on the ground.

OPI - Skull & Glossbones (Pirates of the Caribbean Collection) I also sponged on this color for the lighter parts of my sky.

China Glaze - Happy Go Lucky (Up & Away Collection) I used my dotting tool to put in the windows lights and other details. I learned that a toothpick or a detail brush (mine is coming any day now) would work better for something so small. <=)

Konad Special Polish in Black and White for stamping with Bundle Monster Plates #213 & #224.

I've been using Poshe Top Coat lately and really like it. If you ever spot it (I got mine at Ulta) pick it up. It dries within minutes.

Practice Makes Perfect?

I sure hope so! I tried two different candy corn manicures and hated the results. I'm going to return the yellow and orange polishes I found and get stripers (not strippers) in those colors. I think I will be able to handle those better. =) This is what I tried today. I had such a different idea in my mind but I just couldn't execute it. This blog isn't to show how skilled I am because I'm just learning (this is my second nail art design). I hope you'll be patient with me! I'm planning on doing some swatches of the Halloween polishes I chose this season. I'm also going to try my candy corn mani again and try a spooky drip design.

I used China Glaze - It's Alive (green) from the Haunting collection and Zoya - Trixie (silver) with a dotting tool. The black image was stamped with Black Special Polish (yes, it's called special lol) with plate BM-223. I like how the stamping turned out but wish my dots were more even.

Remember, I paint my nails in bed so my surface isn't very steady. That's my excuse. Ha!

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you have any questions about nail stamping. It's pretty awesome!

Cartoon Frankenstein

Welcome to my very first blog post on Pamper with Polish! I am so excited to start this new adventure. This is my first attempt at nail art. I'm happy with it as it is my first try. I'm also learning how my camera works to make the best pics for my blog!! I'm open to critiques (be gentle please) and tips on how to improve my art! I saw this idea on a blog and I can't remember the name. If it's you, let me know so I can give you proper credit! If you know who it is, let me know!

Ready for the Frankies? Here we go!

Here we go!
""Ahhhh! We're upside down, this can't be good!"

"Not again, come on! Take the picture!"

I tried to make a different expression for each Franky to give variety. I also, as you may have already noticed, put a coat of CG Fairy Dust over their hair. I know, what your thinking. I just couldn't help myself. I must have glitter somewhere on my nails!!
OPI Envy for BC, Essie Sew Psyched, Black Striper for hair and scars, Zoya Snow White for eyes with dotting tool, Nicole Razzle Dazzle for the eyeballs w/ dotting tool, China Glaze Fairy Dust for the hair (no reason for that), and Seche Vite Top Coat. All done. Weee!
I hope you enjoyed.
Have you done any Halloween styled nails yet? I'd love to see them!!
