OPI Can't Let Go

I'm back with another polish from the OPI Mariah Carey Collection. Can't Let Go is one of the liquid sand polishes. It's a purple glitter that has larger pieces of hex glitter in it. I needed three thin coats for it to be opaque. It has a nice formula but takes longer to dry than OPI usually does.

OPI Can't Let Go w/out top coat.

OPI Can't Let Go w/ top coat (two coats of Seche Vite).

I'll be back tomorrow with the last of the liquid sand polishes, OPI The Impossible.

China Glaze Urban Night

I have an older polish from China Glaze's Metro Collection (Fall 2011). I've had this in my archives for a little while and thought I'd post this while I catch up on swatching. I'm not feeling very well so this will be a short post.

Urban Night is a dark purple creme that leans more on the red side. I believe I only needed two coats for these pictures. Formula was excellent as China Glaze usually is. I used one coat of Seche Vite to give it an extra glossy shine.

I believe you can still find Urban Night where China Glaze is sold but I'm not positive about that. I am just full of useful information today! ;p

This is one of my favorite polishes. In fact, this is the only polish that got my husband's attention. He usually just smiles and nods when I show him my nails but this color he truly liked.

I'm working on getting the rest of the OPI Mariah Carey Collection swatched right now. I hope to have them up soon!

OPI Get Your Number

OPI Get Your Number is a liquid sand polish from the Mariah Carey collection. It's meant to be worn without a top coat. I was surprised that I like it with out without a top coat. It's a bit sheer so I used three coats. The pictures show a bit of VNL (visible nail line) but you can't see them in person.

It doesn't feel as gritty as it looks. It's definitely textured but not enough that it bothered me.

I like it better glossy and smooth. It eats top coat; I used two coats of Seche Vite.

Macro with top coat. Look at all that glitter!!

OPI Stay the Night

If you haven't seen this polish in person, you're probably going to think this is pretty weird looking. This is one of those polishes that is hard to photograph (at least for me). I didn't like it when I had just seen swatches online. Once I saw it in the store, I LOVED it. I wore it for about four days. That's unheard of for me. After I took it off and swatched a few other colors, I put it back on again. It's still on my nails now. That's how much I love it. Look at it in person before you decide on this polish.

Stay the Night is from the Mariah Carey collection. Its one of the liquid sand polishes that's supposed to be worn without a top coat. I don't like the way it looks in pictures without a top coat. In person it looks a little different. It's insanely sparkly for one thing. Again, trust me on this one. See it in person.

I like the liquid sand thing more than I expected but it's still not my thing. I don't do textures and I'm not into matte polish. I prefer to wear this with top coat. The glitter is very hungry and required two coats of Seche Vite to smooth it out.

I love it.

I'm curious about how what you think about the liquid sand trend? Do you love it or hate it? Let me know in the comments below!

Born Pretty Glitter Powder Review

Born Pretty recently sent me a set of 12 glitter pots to review. I did a couple of Valentine's Day manicures with them. First, let's talk about the glitter.

The glitter comes in a plastic case. Glitter always gets everywhere so I like that I can have more control over the mess. I used the lid of the case to work with the glitter. When I finished, I just poured the glitter back into the pot from the lid of the case.

This is how big each pot is.

They are about 1/2 of an inch high. I can't imagine ever running out.

You can do so many things with the glitter. I decided to do a tape manicure. I'm terrible at free handing so I used a small heart shaped hole punch. I put painter's tape on top of wax paper and punched out the heart. I then put the tape on top of my nail and put red nail polish inside the heart shape and dunked my nail in the red glitter pot. I quickly removed the tape and voila! I did one nail at a time and sealed everything in with two coats of Seche Vite. I learned this trick, here

For this look I used two coats of OPI Pink Friday. After I put on my second coat, I dunked my nail into the pink glitter pot and used a fan brush to get rid of the glitter on my skin. After it dried, I used two coats of Seche Vite.

It is very sparkly in person. *swoon*

As you can probably tell, I had a lot of fun playing with these. They are very easy to work with and gorgeous! You can find them at the Born Pretty store, here for $6.14. If you use my code, you get 10% off!

I Love Nail Polish Swatches

I have three polishes from the brand, I Love Nail Polish. I grabbed these on Cyber Monday from the I Love Nail Polish store on Etsy. I had been admiring these polishes for a while and wanted to try them out. All three polishes had a great formula but had a very strong smell. Each picture shows two coats on top of my base color.

Once Upon a Starry Night
I love star glitter and had to have this when I saw it. It's my favorite of the three. It has blue and silver glitter and of course stars in a clear base. I wore it on top of a plain black creme polish (I can't remember which one).

 Goldie Boo Boo
This is the perfect glitter for the Fall. In fact, I believe this is from the Halloween collection. I do have a confession. The name makes me think of Honey Boo Boo (I am not a fan). It has a variety of orange, brown, green, and yellow glitter in a clear base. I wore this over an orange shimmer polish (OPI Take the Stage).

Animal Cookie
I may need to put this polish out of sight. It makes me crave the pink and white animal cookies it was named after. I love this as well but think I'd like it over a darker base color. I just can't pull off white nail polish! Animal Cookie has pink and white square, hex, and bar glitter in a variety of sizes. I can see my five year old niece rocking this one. I'll post pictures when I try this over a different color.

I Love Nail Polish can be found on Etsy, here

Cult Nails Flushed

Have you seen this yet? I am so excited to show you the magnificent Flushed from Cult Nails. It's from the Behind Closed Doors collection but is now sold individually. I purchased this a month or so ago but didn't have a chance to wear it until now! I know, what is wrong with me?!?! This would have been in my 2012 Top 10 list had I tried it on earlier. I can't get over how gorgeous it is. This is still available but I believe it's a limited edition shade. If you're interested in Flushed, I suggest grabbing it right away. You never know when it will be gone forever. You can get it, here.

Flushed is an amazing "blurple" that has an intense pink shimmer. This polish looks like it's glowing all of the time, inside and outside. The shimmer is of course stronger outdoors but it is very noticeable inside as well. The formula was fabulous, no complaints here. I needed only two coats. I believe I added a third coat to cover up a smudge or two (I'm very clumsy). I used Seche Vite for my top coat.

I. Love. This. Polish.

What do you think? Are you as smitten with it as I am?

Cult Nails Coveted

I love this polish. If I would have tried this on before the New Year, I think this would have made my top ten list for 2012. This is a polish that needs to be seen in person to truly appreciate. It is a Limited Edition so if you're interested, grab it asap! You can find it, here. Grab Flushed while you're at it. I'm reviewing that next. Trust me on that one. *swoon*

Coveted has an emerald green jelly base, green micro shimmer, and metallic green flakies. I used three coats to sandwich in the flakies to give it extra depth. I just don't have the proper words to describe how mesmerizing this polish is. If you love emerald green, you will treasure this polish.

Do you love it!?!?! I may need a back up of this one.

Cult Nails can be purchased online, here. The prices were raised to $12 recently. Luckily, I got mine before the price increase. Coveted is worth it, in my opinion. Can you tell that I adore it? I want to put it back on right now!

What do you think? Is green your thing? Let me know in the comments below.

Zoya Lovely Collection

I'm so excited to show you Zoya's new spring collection, Lovely. The first thing that struck me when I saw all six colors lined up together in the box is how perfect they look together. I immediately thought of easter and spring. Some of these colors may look familiar to you. Julie, Gei Gei, and Piaf were first released in the Zang Toi collection as limited edition. Jacqueline and Neely were released in the Peter Som collection. I missed out on both so I was excited to see them come back.

The Lovely Collection has six polishes, three are cremes and three are shimmers. I would classify all but Piaf and Jacqueline as pastels. Now, pastels don't get along with my skin tone. They make my hands look too red or washed out depending on the color. With that said, if pastels work for you, you will love this collection.

The Cremes
The formula on the following three polishes were very similar. They are on the thin side but apply smoothly and self level very well. Wipe off the extra polish from your brush before application and you'll be fine. I used three thin coats on each shade.

Jacqueline likes to photograph on the yellow side but it is a very neutral nude. I would describe it as a light beige.

Blu is a pastel blue. It's a lot softer in person than my picture.

Neely is a light minty pastel green.

The Shimmers
The formula on all of the shimmers were perfect. I only needed two thin coats for opacity. They are all packed with a beautiful silver shimmer.

Piaf is a medium yellow with silver shimmer. I'm not a fan of yellow so this was my least favorite color.

This was my favorite from the collection. It's a beautiful light lavender with silver shimmer.

Gei Gei
I'm not sure how to pronounce Gei Gei but I love this polish. It's a beautiful light "baby girl" pink. The silver shimmer makes this different from the other pinks in my collection.

Here is Gei Gei with flash. This color is more accurate and shows what the shimmer looks like.

What do you think? Do you have any favorites? Let me know in the comments below!

The Lovely Collection is available on Zoya's website for $8 each.

Cult Nails Disciplined

Cult Nails Disciplined was released a couple of month ago in the Behind Closed Doors collection. I was a little hesitant when I bought this because greys don't always look good with my skin tone. The color shifting shimmer pulled me in and although it's not the most flattering on me, I love it.

Disciplined has a light grey jelly base with color shifting shimmer (pink, blue, and purple).
(without flash)

The first coat was very sheer. I could barely see the base color but it built up very nicely. I only needed three thin coats but applied four because I smudged a nail.
(with flash)

Isn't it beautiful?
I couldn't stop moving my hand around to see the shimmer change colors.

You can find Disciplined at

China Glaze Glistening Snow

Is it too late to post a polish from a holiday collection? I completely forgot that I had these pictures and they really made me miss my long nails. Luckily, my nails grow pretty fast. ;) Glistening Snow is from China Glaze's Holiday Joy collection. In the bottle, it looks just like China Glaze Fairy Dust. Don't let that turn you away, it is completely different on the nail.

Glistening Snow has a clear base that's packed with a fine silvery holographic polish that creates a scattered holographic effect on your nails. It's extremely sparkly. It reminds me of a silver version of China Glaze I'm Not Lion.

I believe this is only two coats, possibly three. It applied smoothly and dried quickly. As for removal, it's a glitter. I like to use Elmer's Glue as a base coat so I can peel my glitter manis off when I'm done.

Love it!

I found Glistening Snow at Sally's Beauty Supply last month. It and the other polishes in the Holiday Joy collection are probably still around and may even be on sale right now.
